Dear
Kenlee
Recent studies
have shown that more individuals are giving of their
time and talent to various organizations throughout the
United States and world. However, the time each person
is willing and able to give has decreased significantly.
As a volunteer-reliant organization, Alpha Kappa Psi has
decided to look at its current volunteer
responsibilities and make changes in order to grow with
current trends in volunteerism.
Our newest
volunteer program, the Chapter Advisory Board (CAB), is
designed to meet theses changes. With over 70 CAB
members already in place and nearly 40 chapters
benefiting, the program is off to a great
start!
The CAB is a way
to provide area-specific guidance to student chapters.
Individuals, like you, are appointed to guide or mentor
chapters in areas such as finance, recruitment and
programming. Each CAB position requires, on average,
three hours time commitment per month. Below are a few
of the CAB positions available at this time.
-
Risk
Management – advise members regarding the risk
management areas of hazing, drugs and alcohol, sexual
harassment, fire prevention and email
etiquette.
-
Finance
– advise to improve and maintain the financial
standing of the chapter, ensure the chapter is making
sound financial decisions, and instill better
financial practices and organization for the
chapter.
-
Professional Programming – coach the
chapter regarding programming issues and advise the
chapter to ensure the chapter implements a program
schedule that provides the most benefits to the
chapter membership.
-
Recruitment – assist the chapter and
officers in developing a successful rush plan that
allows the chapter to reach its membership
goals.
-
Annual
Chapter Report – provide guidance and assistance
to a chapter concerning ACR related matters; help
ensure the chapter is accomplishing its ACR goals and
meeting or exceeding minimum standards.
The chapter
advisor for each chapter is responsible for appointing
and supervising the CAB members for his or her chapter.
The CAB and the chapter advisor work together as a team
to benefit the chapter as a whole.
As an
established professional, you have the skills we are
looking for in new CAB members. By utilizing your
business skills and mentor abilities, you can have a
significant impact on the chapter experience. The
positions, with their minimal time commitment, are
designed to not detract from your personal and family
obligations.
In addition to
the personal satisfaction that comes with mentoring a
chapter, volunteering provides you with valuable
experience managing people without the fear of having it
implicate your career. The skills you learn and exert
for AKPsi will help you develop both personally and
professionally.
I’d like to ask
for your participation in this new program. Please visit

and register yourself as an interested volunteer. From
there, the appropriate volunteer in your area will
follow up with you to determine which CAB position best
matches your interests.
I appreciate
your consideration for this program, and hope you’ll
help us continue to make Alpha Kappa Psi the premier
developer of principled business leaders. If you have
any questions, please feel free to contact me at the
number below.
